Heavy Floodings in Svandersee

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

On August 6, 2023, heavy rains caused the Svandersee peninsula to be completely flooded. The president of the state has already responded with "precautionary measures to protect the population". Now every citizen is temporarily forbidden to enter the island or the parts that extend over the surface of the creek due to strong currents that are still present. According to a report by the newsreel of Lasetia, a deer was also sighted, which was caught by the floods.

A segment of the president in the newsreel is quoted here when he was there

Hello Lasetian Citizens, Svandersee is officially flooded, the surrounding areas from the fields on the territory of Germany are only also affected. The current is very strong here, and in the background you can still see the remains of Lake Laseti. The situation is serious here and a lot of rainwater has collected on the surrounding fields. I am here on August 6, 2023. This is one of the biggest natural disasters in the history of Lasetia. The territory of Svandersee will not be passable for a long time, an extremely high level of danger is caused by the current. We ask all citizens and visitors to avoid the area.

How things will continue after the natural disaster is not known. The Ministry of Climate and Nature can explain a link with climate change, since this summer is very wet and generally in recent years more and more extremes have been broken, such as drought and floods.

The Ministry of the Interior tried to get a way to the peninsula on behalf of the President, but it failed because previously you could only enter the peninsula via tree trunks, which are now gone due to the flood.

On August 7th, parts of Svandersee could be sighted again, which had previously submerged. Damages of 500 Lasetische Marks are expected. The vegetation was severely damaged and partially destroyed. With weather forecasts, one can now rest easy as temperatures could rise to 28° and no rain is expected.
